I'ts just over a year since my car passed the SVA and I had to get it MOT'd earlier this month.

I still get a real buzz when I get behind the wheel and on a nice evening it's a great way to forget all about the hassles of a hard day at work. It's a real head turner and never fails to attract attention when you park or get petrol. I have still to complete the fitting of the hood and intend to collect the side screens at the Stonleigh Show.I'm still less than satisfied with the fasteners used to hold down the rear hood frame and must find something more easy to locate than the 6 mm thumb screws.

When I first decided to build a Cobra,I looked at a number of the more popular kits and spoke to Companies and owners before settling for a GD. I liked the shape and finish,the reputation for good mannered road holding and the testimonies of GD owners and builders.I haven't been at all disappointed with the product and apart from a few frustrations caused by some outdated build instructions,which were quickly and easily cleared up by a phone call,I must congratulate you and all at GD for an excellent package and a competent and friendly service. Superb car and superb backup from Andy Burrows at GD. I have a GDEuro Chassis and I've done about 1000 miles in the car since December. I am even happier with the car than the day I bought it (& I was very happy then.!). The handling is superb and it is amazingly easy to drive whether it be slowly around town or faster on the open road.

I previously had a DAX and I don't think there is any comparison between the two, the GD wins on every aspect. I would definitely recommmend the GD to anyone. Adrian Gould

"I've had my GD 427 Euro with Ford 5.0 liter EFI engine for 5 years now from new (GD-built), have driven it some 30,000 km and intend to keep adding more. After some hickups during the initial year, my car is highly reliable. Now that I live in the west of Holland, not a great place to drive around in, I use it for few but long trips (south of France, Switzerland, a trip to Florence coming up). My affinity with technology peaks at polishing, but having found an enthusiastic and trustworthy garage nearby, I find maintenance to be without hassle. Standard/quality of parts and completeness excellent.Build video is somewhat now dated and incomplete as indeed build manual.From a point of view of customer service I have found throughout that access/availability to GD staff is fantastic,good attitude,pleasant manner regarding any technical support and advise.Standard of work on rolling chasis is very good. .From the moment we arrived at the factory we were made very welcome , even though it was apparent the factory was busy with turnkey production and preparation of their mighty race car for the Jaguar G.T. Challenge . This did not stop Andy Burrows , the M.D. , from taking the time to show us around and talk with great enthusiastiasim and knowledge about his creation the G.D.427 and the industry as a whole . Why did I pick Gardner Douglas, well it was a customer of GD showing his car on the GD stand at a kit car show that finally clinched it. Well that and the fact that GD actually race their cars, their Cobra was the first to pass SVA, they have been in the business for over 10 years, the design of the chassis is different and feels solid / well designed compared to the tin tubs you usually get, I could go on..... <more>
